Crowns, Not Just Wigs — Part 4: Crown Care: How to Treat Your Hair Like the Treasure It Is
While the confidence boost from a worthy crown is undeniable, there’s another layer of power that comes from how you care for it. Because caring for your crown isn’t just about upkeep—it’s a reflection of how you care for yourself.
Crown Care Is Self-Respect in Action
Let’s be honest—life gets busy. Between work, family, and those “I just need five minutes alone” moments, it’s easy to treat your wig like another item on your to-do list.
But crown care isn’t a chore. Try to treat it as a ritual. One that says:
-
“I deserve grace.”
-
“I am worth the extra time.”
-
“I care for the things that bring me joy, including myself.”
5 Rituals to Keep Your Crown (and Confidence) Thriving
1. Cleanse with intention.
Wash your crown regularly, BUT: as rarely as possible, as often as necessary. You will know when it is time for a cleanse. For your synthetic fibers, use only shampoo and conditioner that is intended for synthetic wigs and use luke-warm to cool water. Treat the lace front with tenderness, it is the most sensitive part of your crown.
2. Detangle before you wash and let air-dry after.
Start at the ends and gently work your way up. No yanking, no frustration. Let this be a quiet moment of care, not a battle. After you washed your crown, lay her flat on one half of a towel and use the other half to gently pat the excessive water out. No rubbing or wringing! Than, just place her on a plastic wig holder and let her air dry. No combing or styling as long as the crown is wet/moist.
3. Store it like you treasure it.
A crown deserves a proper resting place. Use a wig stand or silk bag to keep the shape and protect the strands. Treat it like art—because it is.
4. Protect it from the heat.
If your wig is heat-safe, always use a heat protectant. Carefully read the care instructions and feel free to contact us any time if you are unsure about the care of your Arwendayle crown. You can reach us via Facebook Messenger or by email at info@arwendayle.com.
5. Rotate and rest.
Even queens need variety. Did we mention that crowns are addictive? They are so much fun and once you wear them with confidence and reap all the compliments, you might discover a whole new passion for self expression. The more crowns you have, the less wear each one will get and they will last you for a long time. But always care well for them. If your synthetic wig is heat friendly, please be pro-active. They do not just tolerate heat, they require it in order to stay fluffy and beautiful.
Hair care becomes self-care when you do it with love.
So take your time. Light a candle. Play your favorite playlist. Let crown care become a grounding ritual—not just for your wig, but for your soul.
